High school students from Hiroshima Prefecture studying in the "Food and Regional Seminar" participated in a new experiential learning experience that combined "Wood (Izumoku, the tree of Izumi City) and food."
The participants learned about the challenges facing agriculture and forestry through cooking and tasting Izumoku.

A new learning experience on "wood and food."
Plank BBQ is a cooking method in which food is steamed over water-soaked wood. The wooden boards used for BBQ are called "planks" and are made from thinned wood from Izumi City.
Through the BBQ experience, the participants learned about forest issues and agricultural and forestry challenges, including promoting the use of thinned wood.
